Station manager

Among the station manager’s responsibilities were ticket sales, setting points and giving the signal to the train to depart with a signalling disc. With increasing automation and remote control of the stations, the job became superfluous and was abolished by the SBB at the end of the 1990s. Ticket sales are today handled by employees with the job title “Kaufmann/-frau ÖV” (Administrative associate in public transport).
